This was for our annual guy’s ski trip. Each one of us had different things that we wanted to see in the place we stayed in. Mikes place (on paper) checked all of the boxes. I wanted a working fireplace and a hot tub. Michael wanted a sauna. Ken was really excited about the ski in/out and (believe it or not) the ping pong. Chris just wanted a nice bed and comfortable sleeping accommodations. What we found made each of us either sad or upset for a variety of reasons.
Our first look when we came into the condo was of a room in mild disarray. There are personal effects all over the place. It was like a family had just stayed there and ran out in a hurry without tidying up. There was a full cup of coffee in a paper cup, ski boots in the middle of the entryway, the carpet was rolled up and half stuck behind the easy chair. There is a large basket of crumpled up old newspapers in front of the fake fireplace. There were pieces of firewood randomly thrown on the floor around it. Inside the fake fireplace was a black box that I’m thinking was supposed to imitate fire “heat”. Speaking of heat, the condo was set at 50 degrees and was not up to temp until the next morning. There are extension cords everywhere and still no place to plug in.
An easy chair in the living room has an arm that is completely broken off and lying on the floor. The two windows in the living room have vertical blinds that neither open, close or rotate to keep the light out. This actually became more important because I ended up bringing a mattress up the stairs and sleeping on the floor in the living space.
The kitchen was nice enough except that the sink faucet had a leak that would spray across the countertop. There were no dish towels, no oven mitts, and the only frying pan had Teflon coming off in large flakes.
We knew that there were 3 beds in one room. We had no idea how tightly crammed together they are. Like I said we ended up taking one of the mattresses up into the living room. The bed linens were gross and disgusting with yellow stains, worn thin with holes. There is a pillow in the bedroom crammed into the window well to keep the weather out. The shrink wrap on the window was not helping much.
We each had only one very tiny bath towel.
Our ski closet crammed full and there were no ping pong balls to be found.
Walk in ski out is VERY misrepresented. It’s a 10 minute hike any way you look at it.
I sent Mike a note before I posted this and he chose not to reply.
