Our company might be having an identity crisis and we need your help
We need your help!
The problem: I am not sure we are calling ourselves by the best name.
Ideally, we’d hire a big advertising agency and ask them to solve it—but then, they don’t always get it right either. Remember the creepy Burger King dude?
Anyhow, I’m thinking I’ll go the unconventional route and ask the folks who might know best…our customers…you.
Our corporate name is and always has been since 1998, Construction Personnel Group, Inc
I don’t know why we chose the DBA of Squarefoot Tradesmen. I suppose I thought that the word squarefoot was catchy and that people would ‘get’ it,
“Squarefoot. You know, how we measure things in construction?”
“Oooooohhh”, people say, “Now I get it!”
But the problem is that most folks don’t actually “get it”. And that’s why we need your help.
Should we change our name yet again, or live with it? And if so, then to what?
Now put on your marketing hat and consider the following:
Our customer is literally anyone who works for a construction (or service) company. It could be a general laborer, tradesperson, manager, or superintendent. Technically it could be a dispatcher or payables person as well. If they are looking for a trades company-related job, then they should know that we can refer them to a good company.
Our customer is also the company who needs people to hire. It’s the HR manager or the owner. They need to understand that we can refer an estimator as easily as a truck driver. At the very least, our name should not confuse them.
So as I see it, after 23 years in business we can do one of three things: 1) We can leave it alone. Stay with Squarefoot Tradesmen. 2) We could go back to our original corporate name of Construction Personnel Group, Inc., or 3) We could change it altogether yet another time.
Please leave a comment down below and if your idea is best, then I’ll buy you dinner or something!
I think the Squarefoot Tradesman Talent Agency or Squarefoot Tradesman Staffing Agency, Squarfoot Tradesman Talent Finders.
I like the word “talent” as well. Thanks for your input Tom!
